Fascination with the mysteriously appearing crop circles led to thoughts of farmers’ ordinary crop circles. From the sky, one can see new crop circles overlapping disused circles; and all this integrated with straight furrows, agriculturally unuseable slopes, train tracks, roads and rivers. Hand-dyed and commercial cottons, pieced, appliqued and surface textured with stitching and cording. An original design. First in the Cropped Circles series.

Cropped Circles: Ancient Earth

Crop circles, Stonehenge, intaglios etched into the desert, ancient uses of the earth, scraping away the layers to bear witness to older cultures. These are all thoughts that propelled this piece to completion. Commercial cottons and nylon fabrics, pieced, fused, appliqued and surface textured with stitching. An original design. Cropped Circles: Global Currents

If you get waaay back from the earth, a bigger circles comes into view. This piece brings to mind global weather currents or even continental drift, and because of the movement of the earth around the sun, the circle is always cropped by shadow.
